About

Ey up, I’m Sophie! I’m a thirty-somethingtea-loving Yorkshire lass living in Leeds with my musician boyfriend, Stu, and my rescue dog, Frank, in our first owned home.

I work from my studio, in an old textile mill, as a self employed designer & content creator. I have a product based business where I design and make fun jewellery and colourful home accessories, available online and in shops around the country. I also create fun & colourful content for brands and for here on my blog and Youtube channel. Shop now or work with me.

I love handmade, anything with a story, old furniture, dusty records, faded books. If I love something, you know about it! I wear my heart on my sleeve and I am still that little girl at heart, who fell asleep in her new coat, hat, gloves and wellington boots because she loved them so much.

I try my best to use only cruelty free products and buy from ethical brands, but of course no one is perfect and your best is all you can hope for! I’d much rather DIY than buy and charity shop adventures are my favourite. I love to travel, but beach holidays and fancy food are not my thing. Give me a cityscape and a great pizza to make my heart happy. I always have a camera or two in tow, headphones on and iPad & Apple Pencil in hand.

I started writing so many moons ago, sharing my personal thoughts on journalling sites at first. I have always had such a fondness for the internet – meeting friends online and in real life that share in my love for all the things. Let’s be friends?!

Mostly I share my travels from city to city in the UK and further afield, how to make the most of beach destinations and great places to eat. My favourite place in the world used to be New York City, but now it’s being edged out by Amsterdam – somewhere much closer to home!

I have just bought my first house which is a massive renovation project so I will be sharing lots of in progress stories, fails and ideas as we knock down walls and paint over cracks.

I love clothes so so much and don’t often like to wear the same outfit twice, however I don’t subscribe to fast fashion and I keep the same favourite pieces for years and years so there will be lots of mix and matching items to make up my personal style.

My greatest achievement is running my own business and I co-captain a local gang of Etsy sellers, meeting up once a month to share tips and support. I’ll share my best findings with you guys as well so you can see behind the scenes or maybe even start your own businesses too!

I’ll pop the kettle on!

FAQs:

Do you get paid to write about things?

Sometimes.

Anything featured on my blog that has been provided for review or to be featured in an outfit post will be marked with *gifted, followed by the brand.

If I have been paid to write about a company, or to feature a link, I will be clear about this in the post before any link placement.
All content and opinions are wholly my own and I never accept payment in exchange for a positive review.

My blog is also part of a small no. of affiliate programs so if you click on my links marked with an *affiliate and make a purchase the brand might pass on a few pennies to me.

Accepting payment in exchange for a feature on my blog is how I am able to keep providing free content for you to browse, read and learn from. If you want to ask me anything about this, please feel free to email me. Honesty is the best policy and I will never hide anything from you.

Can I send you something to review?

Yes.

I will only review or share items that I would personally buy for myself or a loved one. Please contact me first if you would like to discuss a gifted item review by emailing: sophie@sillyloaf.com as I can’t guarantee every item will be featured.

If you have a handmade or small business I would be delighted to share your story! Please get in touch!!

You can send mail/post to me at: Silly Loaf, 3B Westfield House, Broad Lane, Leeds, LS13 3HA

Are you available for press trips?

I am a self employed design & content creator so my flexible lifestyle enables me to be available at short notice.

I offer social media & blog coverage, video content or freelance content creation for your own website. Please see my portfolio for more information or email me for availability.

Please note, all travel expenses must be covered.

Who takes your outfit photos?

My boyfriend, Stu, usually takes my outfit photos and occasionally friends and family will help out too. I do take some of my own images using a self timer remote.

Can I post your Photographs/Recipes/DIYs on my social media or my own blog?

Yes, please do! You don’t need to ask permission. All I ask is that you:

Never repost an entire article in full. You may publish an excerpt and link back to my blog for the rest of the content.

Never change any part of the work without my permission

Never claim the work as your own. Always credit either @sillyloaf or www.sillyloaf.com

Never use the work to make money – e.g you can’t print and sell my photos and you can’t use my tutorials to make products to sell, but you can take the skills you learned to design your own product to sell for sure!
